We invite you to share your creative classroom experiences, insights, and activities with the Clixo educator community. See ways to represent Clixo and become an inspiration to others.

Valeen Bhat

Teacher, Founder & CEO of kids' art studio Private Picassos - Brooklyn, NY
Valeen received her BFA/MS in Art and Design Education from Pratt Institute. After working at various educational facilities, including museums, early childhood education centers and community centers, she founded Private Picassos in the Spring of 2006. Valeen crafts the core values and philosophy of Private Picassos, drawing inspiration from her education, experience, and background, especially the influence of her two artist parents. Valeen opened the first brick and mortar location for Private Picassos in October 2015 and then their second in September of 2024.
Favorite Clixo creation: I love the tropical bird creations!

Erin Darnell

Digital Integration Specialist - Easley, SC
Erin Darnell lives in Easley, SC and has been in education for 19 years. She taught first grade and kindergarten and served as the Technology Integration Specialist for all grades K-5. She is currently a Digital Integration Specialist (DIS) and has worked within Anderson School District 5 in Anderson, SC for seven years. As a DIS Erin gets to work with teachers AND students to integrate rigorous and engaging hands-on learning into the classroom. She works closely with her school's administration teams to provide coaching and support as needed, ranging from behavior and classroom management to thinking outside the box and creating adaptive technologies for our students with different abilities. Erin is known for her willingness to help and serve others and her innovation with problem solving. She is excited for the opportunity to partner with Clixo and to meet and learn from other professionals
Favorite Clixo creation: The creation of different perspectives is a great way to introduce Clixo to students and teachers.

Shelby Barlow

Pre-K Teacher - Argyle, Texas
This is Shelby Barlow! Her first and favorite job is being a mom to her three kids. She is a former elementary school teacher turned stay-at-home mom, now back in the classroom teaching Pre-K. She loves working with 4 and 5 year olds, and has a passion for hands-on learning, whether it's through art, fine motor skill activities, or hands-on science projects. Seeing young children grow and explore their creativity brings her so much joy!
Favorite Clixo creation: My favorite Clixo creation is truly anything my kids make using their imagination. Whether that's a crown and cape to dress up as a king, or a "fishing pole" to go fishing for magnets! 

Rachel Frizzell-Henige

Occupational Therapist - Brooklyn, NY
Rachel is a pediatric occupational therapist providing home-based and school-based care to children in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan. She is passionate about family education and collaboration, and specializes in developing the following skills with her clients: executive function, self-regulation, motor planning, and school-readiness skills (e.g. handwriting). She enjoys incorporating exciting, new toys into her sessions to motivate her clients!
Favorite Clixo creation: A car "dashboard" that a student and made together with Clixo "buttons"

Kara Keefe

Technology Teacher - Willingboro, NJ
Kara Keefe is an elementary technology teacher at Twin Hills Elementary School in Willingboro, NJ.  This year she is adding engineering to her curriculum and is excited to inspire new creations in her classroom.  Mrs. Keefe lives in New Jersey with her husband and her son.  She loves teaching and learning new things from her students.  Mrs. Keefe graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Montclair State University and has taught grades Pre-k through 5th grade. She has been teaching technology for 11 years and is excited to add engineering activities to classes.

Elizabeth Porter

Master Teacher and Assistant Professor of Practice - Austin, Texas
Elizabeth Porter is a Master Teacher at the Priscilla Pond Flawn Child & Family Laboratory and an Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of Texas at Austin. She received her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Austin and her master’s degree in Fine Arts from Hunter College (CUNY) in New York. She is a state-certified educator, with a specialization in early childhood art. In addition to being an educator, Elizabeth is an artist whose work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in California, New York, and throughout Texas.
Favorite Clixo creation: Any and all sea creatures!

Melanie Wood

Librarian / Media Center - Chesterfield, MO
As an elementary librarian with three years of experience and nine years teaching 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade, Melanie is passionate about introducing innovative tools to spark student creativity. She loves meeting students at their level and pushing their imaginations and problem-solving skills. In her library, every interaction is an opportunity for exploration, making Clixo an exciting addition to inspire hands-on learning and creativity.
