Activity Overview

In this lesson, we will explore geometric angles with Clixo pieces. We will start with an overview of angles and then move on to connecting Clixo pieces and measuring the angles between them.

Objective

Students will be able to understand the concept of angles and use Clixo to create and measure different types of angles.

Materials

Introduce

  • Begin by explaining the concept of angles to students. An angle is formed when two lines, rays or line segments meet at a common point called a vertex.
  • Show examples of different angles (acute, right, obtuse, straight and reflex) on the board or screen.
  • Discuss the properties of each angle, such as the size of the angle and the direction of the lines.

Build & Create

Activity 1: Clixo Angle Building (20 minutes)

  • Give each student Clixo pieces.
  • Instruct the students to use the Clixo pieces to create different types of angles.
  • Ask the students to measure each angle using a protractor and compare the measurements to the expected angle measure.

Activity 2: Angle Measurement (20 minutes)

  • Give each student a worksheet with different types of angles (acute, right, obtuse, straight and reflex) and ask them to measure each angle using a protractor.
  • Have the students record their measurements on the worksheet.
  • Walk around the classroom and observe the students to ensure they are measuring the angles accurately.

Share & Reflect

  • Recap the different types of angles and their properties.
  • Ask students to share the angles they created with each other and the class.
  • Ask students to reflect on what they learned during the lesson and how they can apply this knowledge in real life situations.

Tips

  • Encourage students to work together and share their ideas with one another.
  • If you have limited Clixo pieces, have each student use only 2 pieces, and ask them to trace the angles they create onto a sheet of paper before continuing to the next.
