Creativity, Collaboration, and Play: Clixo Joins NYC FIRST for Teacher Professional Development in the Bronx
Clixo recently partnered with NYC FIRST as part of a professional development workshop for NYC DOE preschool educators serving children ages 3 and up. The full day of professional training focused on STEM and robotics - with Clixo providing hands-on learning experiences that help young learners develop creativity, problem-solving skills, and confidence.
Teachers participated in two engaging Clixo challenges - a Tallest Tower Challenge and a Superhero Costume Design Activity - experiencing the power of open-ended learning firsthand. Participants worked together to design and engineer towering structures, exploring concepts such as balance, stability, and iteration while practicing collaboration and communication.
The workshop then shifted into imaginative play as educators used Clixo to create wearable superhero accessories. From masks and crowns to unique character designs, participants expressed their personalities and ideas through their creations, demonstrating how STEM learning can be combined with storytelling, creativity, and self-expression.
Professional development is most effective when educators are actively engaged in the learning process, and Clixo offers a unique way to bring fun, innovation, and meaningful collaboration into workshops. With no single right answer, participants are encouraged to experiment, share ideas, take creative risks, and build confidence. The activities naturally strengthen group dynamics, foster teamwork, and create memorable shared experiences among colleagues.
